Onboarding improvements, guest layout, and pricing insights

What I worked on this weekend

  • Focused on onboarding and Laravel guest layout (login, register, password reset, etc.).
  • Happy with how the guest layout turned out—it looks clean and functions well.
  • Finished the onboarding steps, but after some reflection, I’m not convinced about the structure.
  • Currently, onboarding consists of one step with three questions, but it may be too difficult for users and needs a full rework.

Lessons learned

  • Good UI isn’t always good UX—simplifying onboarding might be necessary.
  • Even completed work sometimes needs re-evaluation after stepping away.
  • Pricing and interval decisions for monitoring require careful thought.

Challenges faced

  • Product progress feels slow, leading to doubts about the current direction.
  • Uncertainty about the best onboarding flow.
  • Still figuring out the right balance for pricing and monitor intervals.

Pricing and strategy insights

During a discussion with Tim Hanssen (CTO of Prepr), I gained valuable insights into pricing models and monitor intervals. His experience in SaaS provided useful perspectives that could influence future decisions.

  • Had a valuable chat about pricing models and monitor intervals.
  • Gained useful SaaS insights that could shape future decisions.

What’s next

  • Redesign the onboarding flow to be more intuitive.
  • Re-evaluate the monitor interval and pricing strategy based on insights.
  • Push through the standstill and focus on meaningful progress.
